What You Believe
Determines Your Journey!

“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV)

Thank you for

finding this website!

Why do I write? To me, it’s  mysterious, surprising, and a daily adventure.  I might be alone in my office, but I’m never lonely. The words may be subdued in 12-point font but extravagant in my soul. I’m excited that something so small on my computer screen could someday connect to readers like you whom I’ve never met. All I know is that I love the process, and I hope something good will happen in your life as a result of my many hours tapping on a keyboard.

Two Books, One Passion

The passion at the heart of my first two books is simple: I’ve been through cancer twice, and I have a deep and personal empathy for all the brave cancer patients currently in the trenches day in and day out. It’s that simple.

I understand how cancer feels and what it’s like to be terrified by its threats and lies. But I also know the relief and joy of leaving chemo, surgery, and radiation behind me as I marched into my survivorship.

As a result, I’ve written and continue to write words I wish I could have found during the initial period of cancer, especially during the first bout in 2012. I didn’t have time for long books or theoretical treatises, so I tried to find short, practical, quick-read books and I wanted some to tell me in simple, no-nonsense terms that I had a future. But I couldn’t find a book like that. So as I settled into survivorship, I decided to write one, and then I wrote a second one when my oncologist suggested my approach would be especially conducive to personal reflection and group discussion.

I’ve also designed a dedicated website for cancer patients called cancerjourneybooksandblogs.com. You can learn more about that below on this page.

For more information, endorsements, and reviews for my books, please click on their respective pages. Either book is a good place to start!

Three Blog Categories: One Purpose

I love God, I love to encourage people, and I’ve always loved the arts. When I blog, I get to do all three at the same time. For me, creativity is an immeasurable gift that I’ve been privileged to experience through music, dance, art, and especially writing. These ministries have been my calling and my delight. Mark Batterson said in Draw the Circle that he takes off his shoes and worships God before he writes, because it is holy ground. To that I gratefully say, “Amen.”

Below you see the blog categories I offer. I sincerely hope you find something that inspires your journey and draws you ever closer to true beauty and the heart of our beautiful God.

My Dedicated Website For Cancer Patients,
cancerjourneybooksandblogs.com

If you’re a cancer patient, I’ve been thinking about you. Maybe you just found out. Maybe you’re overwhelmed today. Maybe your schedule is filling up with diagnostic tests and doctor visits. I get it. For you, I’ve created a website where you can zero in on what you need today. If you want to get a book, that’s good, but I’m more concerned about how you’re doing right now.

At cancerjourneybooksandblogs.com, I’ve written directly to you on the home page as well as on the page called “The Basics.” Additionally, for your convenience, I separated my cancer blogs into two categories: treatment tips and inspiration.

You are on my mind. You can do this! Be blessed.
